Nationalist Congress Party

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) founded in 1999. It's one of the Eight National Parties in India. Political Position of NCP is Centre-Left. Pacific Blue is the NCP denote color. Watch is NCP's Election Symbol.
Nationalist Congress is in alliance with UPA, LDF(Kerala) and LDM(Assam).

Ideology:

Spirit of Indian Nationalism is of prime importance to NCP. Two, Believe in Liberal values. Freedom, Tolerance, equality & individual
rights. Three, Socialism. Four, Social Justice to all. Five, Social Equality to all Citizens. Six, Respect to all religion and beliefs (secularism).

History of NCP:

NCP was founded by Sharad Pawar, P.A. Sanma, and Tariq Anwar.
After separating from INC. Founders of NCP had opposed appointment of Italian-born Sonia Gandhi as a leader.

The issue raised after the death of Rajiv Gandhi. Pawar became president while Sangma & Anwar became general secretaries.
However, NCP-INC got allinged in 1999 in Maharastra Elections.

Electrol Advancement-

Sharad Pawar’s NCP contested its first election in 1999. INC-NCP formed Government in Maharastra.
This alliance remained strong for Lokshabha election as well.

NCP delivered peak performance in 2004 by winning 71 seats.
Congress-NCP had remained in power from 1999 to 2014.
BJP-ShivSena led NDA ruled NCP-INC out from power.

Controversies of NCP:

Internal Disputes:

One group broke with the NCP in Kerala in 2002. Another faction split off from NCP in Chhattisgarh in 2004. Purno Sangma pulled
his Meghalaya-based faction out of the NCP in 2004. To be the candidate for presidential elections. In, 2013 he formed the National
People’s Party.

Corruption Charges:

Top leaders of NCP had been acussed of several Corruption Charges.
From Sharad Pawar to Ajit Pawar, NCP’s former ministers are accused of corruption.
Both Maharastra & Central Agencies are investigating in this Matter.

Political Nepotism:

Leaders Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar, D.Y. Patil, Chhagan Bhujbal, Narayan Rane, and Ganesh Naik. All have promoted the political careers of their respective family members.

Conclusion:

NCP has to prove itself in Maharastra & around India. Experts have directed NCP to part ways with INC. Time for resolution of internal
disputes within NCP. Also, Leadership needs to perform its role.

Motivation alone will result in nothing. Changes in Planning & Strategies of NCP is a must. The strong role of Opposition in State & Central is missing. Strengthening party at Deepest is required.
