Piyush Goyal

Piyush Ved Prakash Goyal, Indian Politician. Currently, serving as Union Minister of Railways & Commerce in NDA-2. Presently, he is Member of Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra. Former National Treasurer of BJP. Piyush Goyal looked after Publicity & Advertising Campaign of BJP in 2014 General Election. Recipient of Carnot Prize for distinguished contribution to Energy Policy.

Early Life

Piyush Goyal was born on 13 June 1964. Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His father, Ved Prakash Goyal, Former Union Shipping Minister in 2001-03. His Mother, Chandrakanta Goyal, Three time BJP MLA from Maharashtra. He’s Married to Seema Goyal.

Education

Completed his Schooling from Don Bosco High School, Matunga. He had strong academic award. Piyush Goyal ranked 2 in All India, in a exam for Charted Accountant. Also, he ranked 2nd in Law Examination in Mumbai University. Further, Piyush Goyal Participated in Leadership Programs at Yale, Oxford & Princeton University.

Political Career

As a Government Nominee he served as Investment Banker. And, Member of Boards of SBI ( 2001-2004) & Bank of Baroda (2002-2004). Thereafter, Goyal Became member of Standing Commitee on Finance . As well as Consultative Commitee for Defence Ministry. He served as Member of Managing Commitee of Indian Merchants Chamber. With that he had closely worked with NGOs on various Social Issues.

Association with BJP

Piyush Goyal joined BJP in 1984. Afterwards, he became National Treasurer of BJP & was elected to Rajya Sabha. Furthermore, he was appointed as BJP Secretary of Mumbai Division. He was the 1 in BJP to initiate idea of Modi for PM candidate. As 2014 Election Campaign Manager he ensured NaMo & 272+ mission of BJP to trend all over India.



Union Minister

He was Appointed as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal & New Renewable Energy in NDA-1. In absence of Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitely, He presented Union Budget in 2018 & 19.

Achievements as Rail Minister

Under his tenure, Indian Railway achieved Best Safety Record in 2018-19. Which came as result of Unmanned Level Crossing, Involvement of Safer & Better coaches. Eventually, Railways have Speeded up all Trains on Major routes. Meanwhile, Indian Railways have also come up with 1st Semi-High speed Train Vande Bharat Express. Recently, Railways have announced India’s first Under Water Rail Line for Kolkata Metro. Whereas, Indian Railways are also in close coordination with Japan for India’s own Bullet Train. Indeed, Railways are progressing towards the development of India’s first ever High Speed Network.
