Broadcasting is the telecast/transmission of information on televisions or radio.
Technically it means to throw or direct signals falling from a different direction into a single direction.
Private Broadcasting is the broadcasting that is owned by various business groups. While Public Broadcasting is the owner and controlled by Government and it’s other functionaries.

Objectives of Public and Private Broadcasting:

Public Broadcasting: The main aim or objective of public broadcasting is to Educate, Inform and Entertain for free.
The Prime aim Public Broadcasting takes into the account is to benefit of the public .

Private Broadcasting: Private Broadcasting is completely the opposite of what public broadcasting do.
Private Broadcasting aims at higher TRP’s so they could earn higher profits.
Private Broadcasting main objective is to Entertain people. Private Broadcasting works for their own growth.

Features of Private Broadcasting:

Advertising:

The main source of Income of Private Broadcasting is commercials.
Every Private Broadcaster looks forward in attracting as much advertisement as it can.
More Advertisement means more profit.
More Advertisement also means broadcaster is having a huge viewer base.
It primarily depends on air programs on television or radios.

Paid Programming:

Private Broadcasting overlaps with paid services.
The paid services refer to Cable TV, Radio, Satellite TV, etc.
These services are generally partially or wholly paid by local and are known as Leased Access.
Private Broadcasters are the main authoritarian.
It’s controlled and Regulated by certain Private Broadcasting Companies only.

Ratings:

Ratings are the standard to measure the performance of the Private Broadcasters.
These Ratings are generally decided on the basis of how many viewership it had attained in an hour, week or month?
More the Ratings are,  More is the Revenue.
That’s the reason the Private Broadcasters had focused all their skill and ideas on gaining more Ratings.

Other Factors:

Private Broadcasting is generally funded by certain Business professionals or by some other funding.
Private Broadcasting is more about addressing and building own propaganda.

Features of Public Broadcasting:

Public Broadcasting includes Radio, Television and other Electronic mediums where the primary mission is Public Welfare.
Government Funds Public Broadcasting via annual fees charged as receivers.
Public Broadcasting can be Nationally or Locally operated, Depending upon country and station.

Initiatives or Programs of Public Broadcasting:

Farming Education, Farming Support, Cultural Education, Analysis of Governments move in neutral form.
Education of Children, Showcasing Cultural Heritage of Country, Attention to Minorities and Entertainment.

Views Regarding Public Broadcasting :

There are two views exist for development and growth of Public Broadcasting.
One is that Public Broadcasting is incompatible with commercial or Private Broadcasting objectives.
The other is Public Broadcasting must compete in Marketplace.
But Privatising Public Broadcasting means reducing Knowledge and enhancing commercialization.

Conclusion:

Public Broadcasting should be kept as it is.
Don’t let Rajya Sabha TV debate a commercial propaganda debate .
Private Broadcasting Companies should take the initiative of expressing truths, Educating People, Stop Spread of certain propaganda.
Both sectors hold significant Importance to us and both must progress simultaneously and built a better society.
