Represents NDA-2 government in Rajya Sabha. Member of Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra. His party RPI (A) is part of NDA. Famous for his speeches in Parliament.
Ramdas Athavale was born in 1959 in Sangli District, Bombay. His parents were Bandu Bapu and Honsabai Bandu Athawale. Attended Siddharth College of Law, Mumbai. He is follower of Buddishm.
Joining RPI, He was in association with INC. He was MLA from 1990-96. And, served as Minister in Social Welfare & Transport. Athavale represented Pndharapur Constituency.
Lok sabha Journey
In 1998-99 Ramdas Athavale became MP from Mumbai North Central. Further, he served as MP from 1999-2004. Athavale left NCP-INC alliance in 2011 after defeat in 2009.
Alliance with BJP
RPI joined NDA in 2011 & contested Municipal election. As NDA rise to power, Ramdas Athavale became Rajya Sabha Member. Furthermore, He was appointed as Minister of State, working under Thawar Chand Gehlot.
Socially Active Athavale
Athavale criticized BJP for the attacks on Dalits in Haryana. While, In 2018 Dalit activists were arrested protesting against Ramdas Athavale’s speech. Whereas, only He advocated for Economically Weaker. Moreover, he even demanded 25% quota for Dalits in Cricket.
